The Saturday lunch shift runs from 12-2:30pm

We need dependable volunteers to help take care of all the dogs we have at our facility. Volunteers spend their time letting dogs outside for play time and cleaning kennels. The best part about volunteering at the Humane Society is playing with the dogs and watching them play with other dogs. We could also use volunteers to help take pictures and videos to post on our social networks.

The Chattanooga Zoo's 15 week-long internships are offered every Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters. The program requires a minimum of 180 service hours, and enrichment or educational project. Interns will receive on-the-job training, have access to training via the San Diego Zoo Global Academy, and learn priceless AZA zoo knowledge. Applicants must have earned enough college credits to be considered a sophomore.

ANIMAL CARE INTERNS
Animal care Interns work side by side with a zookeeper learning about daily husbandry, training, medical and maintenance of animals and their habitats. Interns are responsible for learning routines, animal observances, assisting with training and enrichment, and conducting research projects.

We need fundraising volunteers.

We need people who will go around town and hang up the posters.

We need house volunteers for managing costume closet, cleaning and organizing properties for workdays.

We need volunteers prior to each show for individuals interested in opportunities for bring productions to life: Painters, set construction, costume designing, art work, stage managers, light and sound tech. 

Peer tutors assist other DSC students in becoming a more successful and independent learner. Peer tutors provide and help to integrate effective learning and study strategies for their assigned students, while at the same time helping to clarify and/or reinforce course content, assignments, and material.

Cross Plains Community Partner (CPCP) has implemented a volunteer-based program that focuses on building one on one relationships and friendships with individuals currently receiving services from CPCP.

The F.R.I.E.N.D program is seeking to match community members with an adult who has an intellectual disability, in an effort to enhance and grow the individual’s community involvement and personal self-enrichment. We are looking for warm-hearted and patient volunteers who are interested in getting to know one of the wonderful individuals we are serving at Cross Plains and become a friend and/or mentor to them.

What would you be doing?

The volunteer will spend their time doing a variety of things with their matched individual. During your one on one visit with your F.R.I.E.N.D you will be doing activities that both you and the individual enjoy and can do together. Whether it be meeting for lunch or spending time in the art room with our artist, at Cross Plains. One day you could be painting in the art room and the next you could be out in the community shopping at the mall. There is a vast array of activities and ways to spend your time together that would be fun for both of you!

We will review your application and contact you for further information if we determine you will be a good fit for our program. A background check will be required. Matches with CPCP individuals are then made based on age, gender, location and similar interests.

Volunteers for Caris help patients and their families by making a difference in day-to-day life. When sharing your gifts, talents or time for companionship, no volunteer assistance goes unnoticed or unneeded. We value our volunteers and appreciate how they make a difference to our patients.  Volunteers are always needed, even if it's just for 30 minutes. For of our patients with limited support systems, a few minutes here and there make a world of difference. 

Office Work- Support the work of others and gain office experience by filing, sorting, organizing, etc.

Special Projects- This can be a wide range of activities:  Knitting blankets, assembling gift baskets, help with special house projects to make homes more accessible, share musical abilities in facilities.  If you have a special gift, we can put it to use. 

3.    Companionship- Our patients crave companionship, this could be from talking with patients, reading to them, listening to music together, and/or attending activities with patients. Your time and presence lifts their spirits.

City of Refuge Dalton serves children, families, individuals, and senior adults each Wednesday and Friday from Noon to 4pm with food boxes delivered to people who have limited transportation or other needs.  Our food bank serves people who are at or below the Georgia poverty guidelines.  Our drivers will come to our office on 416 South Glenwood Ave. and pickup a list of addresses and food boxes for each of the families.  When a driver arrives at a home, we encourage you to knock and to announce that you are with City of Refuge Dalton and are delivering a food box. We encourage our drivers to be cordial and talk with the families but to also maintain social distancing, and we recommend wearing a mask.  In the last year through this program, we have been able to serve over 250,000 meals to people in our community.  Together We Are Making a Difference! 

Perfect for a Social Work major, this volunteer receives training from the Department of Public Health to determine eligibility for services at the DEO Clinic.  Volunteers in this role must exercise sensitivity and confidentiality rules while asking potential patients about financial and other criteria for services.  Since this opportunity requires more extensive training, it is ideal for the Eligibility Specialist volunteer to commit 3 hours per month to the role.

Work to check patients into the clinic, take vital signs and otherwise prepare the patient for their visit with an MD, PA or NP.

What is the JA Discovery Center?

JA Discovery Centers are state-of-the-art learning facilities where middle school students apply concepts they learn in the classroom in an authentic and immersive experience. Inside the JA Discovery Center, middle school students will work alongside adult coaches in a capstone simulation called: JA BizTown (6th grade) and JA Finance Park (8th).

JA Discovery Center Volunteer Role

Volunteers are an essential piece of impacting middle school students. You will be a mentor and coach to small group of 6-8 middle school students through a 1-day simulation. You will share about your life experiences to make learning authentic for the students. In JA BizTown you will guide students as they make decisions around running their business, earning a paycheck, and generating a profit. In JA Finance Park, you will help students make the connection between their education and career, career and income, and ultimately their income and lifestyle, helping them through a monthly household budget.

Volunteer Sign Up Details:

Link@The Y is an after-school program for middle school students.  We help with social skills, academics, behavior concerns, and connect the family to resources they may need in the community.  We have 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. 

We are needing Math and Language Arts tutors for middle school students from 4:15pm-5pm Monday through Thursday. 

Volunteer during our after school drop in hours from 3-6pm Monday-Friday! Play games with students, serve snacks, lead activity groups, and facilitate the art room. 

We have a FREE clothing closet located in Calhoun and we need volunteers to come on Saturday mornings and help us organize, sort through clothes, clean, check in/check out, etc. We also have a new location opening soon and will need help setting it up.

Choose a mile or spot special to you and help us keep it clean! Sign up to recieve free supplies from KDWB and then spend some time by yourself or with friends and de-trash the area! All of Whitfield is a watershed meaning that each piece of litter you pick up is a piece of litter that doesn't end up in our oceans. 

This assignment requires 10 hours of training and ongoing volunteer hours.  Assist Clients with basic paperwork and make copies.  Answer questions of other visitors.  Adhere to all confidentiality requirements.  

Volunteers should complete training with an established volunteer before working alone.  Our hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

We need volunteers who receive training, and then return once each month for a morning to work.  At this time we do not have short-term assignments that last only a few hours total.

Someone reliable to help once a week for a couple of hours for with day to day stuff.

All volunteers will have needed to complete the Boys & Girls Club Volunteer Application before visiting the boys and girls club. All volunteers working with Club Programming will need to complete a GAPS background check as well. Paperwork needed for the background check will be provided by the Boys and Girls Club staff.

We have been given a grant for new overhead lighting need help installing them. Skill level is minor just take down old and install new.

We need community members to help our Events Board in planning and organizing community events throughout the year. Help us plan fun and exciting events for couples and friends in our community to enjoy together. Committee meeting times and days will vary. 

We need help with filing and organizing materials and documents in the office, Creating Filing systems, collecting and organizing grant data. Hours are flexible.
