JA Discovery Centers are state-of-the-art learning facilities where middle school students apply concepts they learn in the classroom in an authentic and immersive experience. Inside the JA Discovery Center, middle school students will work alongside adult coaches in a capstone simulation called: JA BizTown (6th grade) and JA Finance Park (8th). JA Discovery Center Volunteer Role Volunteers are an essential piece of impacting middle school students. You will be a mentor and coach to small group of 6-8 middle school students through a 1-day simulation. You will share about your life experiences to make learning authentic for the students. In JA BizTown you will guide students as they make decisions around running their business, earning a paycheck, and generating a profit. In JA Finance Park, you will help students make the connection between their education and career, career and income, and ultimately their income and lifestyle, helping them through a monthly household budget. Example Agenda: Volunteer Sign Up Details: 1. Click the blue "Respond" button on the top right-hand corner of this page and submit. This will make tracking your volunteer hours easier. 2. Visit JA's Volunteer Hub Site to create your profile, complete your waiver, and select volunteer/event dates. 3. Show up for your volunteer day(s). No Jeans. Business Casual. Dalton State attire, light jacket, and comfortable shoes are recommended. 4. Return to RoadrunnerServe and use the "Add Hours" feature to track your volunteer time.
