Description

This program connects volunteers with hospice patients and families where they offer comfort, strength and companionship. Volunteers can sit with a patient while family members do errands, grocery shop or attend appointments of their own. Volunteers can read to patients, share craft projects, write letters and make memory boxes or just be there in the moment. Training will be provided in the areas of grief and bereavement, communication skills as well as in communication skills and managing stress. Volunteers make us special, be the hand someone holds.

We can work with your schedule.

Our volunteers receive:

  • Training that covers the ins-and-outs of hospice care
  • Opportunities to provide direct patient care or office administrative hours that support patient care.
  • FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE – Volunteers choose when and how much time they’d like to volunteer.

Amedisys Hospice of Dalton serves the following counties: Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Gordon, Murray, Walker, and Whitfield.
